sdir_readme.txt SDIR 10/1/2000 I have, and frequently use, an ancient DOS utility called SDIR, (short for Super Directory), version 5 dating from 1984. Even today, run in a DOS box in Windows, it shows the tilde versions of the long names rather than those names themselves; if I want the long names I use DIR. There are many more things it can do too. Unzip SDIR.ZIP to get SDIR.COM, the program file, and SDIR5.DOC, a documentation file. Just put the program file in your DOS path and you're in business. Typing SDIR at the command prompt displays the directory and there are various switches to use to modify that display. Also, after you have the directory showing, hitting the slash key, /, allows various actions to be performed on particular files such as deleting a file or viewing a text file. Use Esc to get back to the DOS prompt. To save keystrokes I've renamed my own program file to just D.COM so I only have to hit D at the command prompt. Robert Binkley rbinkley@julian.uwo.ca
